Apple iPhone 5S – The fastest smartphone ever?
Apple announced yesterday that the iPhone 5S will be available to buy from the 20th September. So how does the iPhone 5S differ from the iPhone 5 it is replacing?
First of all it has a slightly new external look as it will be available in colours of gold, silver or space grey.
However it is not the look of the iPhone 5S that makes it different but the technology that can be found internally. The iPhone 5S features Apples new faster A 64-bit A7 chipset, complete with the new M7 motion processor, making it the first 64-bit smartphone in the world.
Another brand new feature to the iPhone 5S is the introduction of Touch ID within the home button on the phone. No longer will you have to input your security code every time you open your iPhone but simply access your iPhone via a fingerprint identity. Touch ID also enables you to purchase apps and music from apples online store without having to insert your apple password.
The third main feature of the iPhone 5S is the efforts made efforts to improve the phone’s photography capabilities. Not only has the iPhone 5S got an increased sensor to improve low light situations but The handset also has two LED flashes providing different types of light which can be combined to help improve colour balance. Automatic image stabilisation along with the ability to shoot video at 120 frames per second has also been incorporated within the device.
Not only has the iPhone 5S got some exciting new features, it also runs with the new iOS 7 operating system which Head of software at Apple, Craig Federighi states “downloading iOS 7 is like getting an all new device.” The new IOS 7 operating system brings together additional features with a new look and user experience while using all the original functions and controls we have always associated with iOS.
On a disappointing note the iPhone 5S is yet to grasp NFC technology which can be used to make payments in high street stores and to easily link phones to speakers and other gadgets. Something that is now a common feature in rivals handsets.
The iPhone 5S will be available from the 20th September and a SIM-Free device will cost from around £549 while the availability and costs on various networks is still to be announced.
